Abaco lodging - nice and great
Accomodations in Abaco range from private homes that are available for daily, weekly or monthly rentals to small resorts complete with pool, restaurant, maid service and all the amenities. Our list of lodging options has become so long that we've divided it up by island. Elbow Cay is approximately 6 miles long and 1/4 mile wide. A magnificent barrier reef protects the long sandy beaches, making them perfect for swimming, snorkeling, diving, and fishing. The settlement on Elbow Cay is Hope Town, a small 18th century picturesque village built around a protected harbor. Great Abaco is the largest island in the Abacos. Marsh Harbour is the principal city, the third largest in the Bahamas. It has the largest protected deep water harbour in Abaco, and an international airport serviced by major US and Bahamian carriers. Naturally, it has many shops, restaurants, marinas, and accommodations. Great Guana Cay is approximately seven miles long with a spectacular beach on the ocean side that offers wonderful swimming, snorkeling and beachcombing. There is excellent fishing on the reefs and offshore. Green Turtle Cay is known for beautiful beaches, as a starting point for deep-sea fishing and great diving, and for the village of New Plymouth with its unique history. Lubbers Quarters, located between Marsh Harbor and Elbow Cay, approximately 3 miles south of Hopetown, it is 1 mile long and 1/2 mile wide. The island offers secluded beaches, clear paths for walking or jogging, and lots of peace and quiet. Lubbers has been completely noncommercial until recently - there is one restaurant on the island. More restaurants and shops are just a few minutes away by boat in either Hope Town or Marsh Harbour. Pristine beaches, island breezes, extraordinary sunsets, spectacular fishing, water so clear you don't have to get wet to experience the sealife! Tilloo Cay is a very quite and private place to vacation, with no commercial development, yet Hope Town, Lubber's Quarters, White Sound and Tahiti Beach are just minutes away. Treasure Cay's magnificent 3 1/2 mile beach has been rated one of the 10 best in the world! Treasure Cay also offers golf, tennis, fishing charters, diving, snorkeling, and restaurants
